wow, just wow
one question though: why only ONE clinic?

Hi there. charity: water works with local, established NGOs to build well projects. In four short years, donations to charity: water have funded over 3,800 water projects to provide more than 1.7 million people in 17 countries with access to clean and safe drinking water. Their projects are a mix of village, clinic, and school wells. The one clinic cited above was in Malawi. However, donations to charity: water have built wells for 30 clinics in Cote d’ Ivoire, 1 in the DRC, 12 in Ethipoia, 2 in Liberia, and 1 in Tanzania. The remainder of the projects have been in villages and schools, and some village wells also provide water to clinics. Safe drinking water access in-village drastically causes instances of water borne disease to plummet.
charity: water works with their partners to identify the most effective projects. The need is clearly greater than the current level of funding. This blog, tumblr: water, is dedicated to raising $10,000 over three months, for the purpose of funding two more wells for villages, clinics, or schools - where charity: water determines the funds will be best used. 100% of donations fund on-the-ground projects.
If you are interested in clinic projects, the charity: water page on their Kenya project includes a really interesting video showing the water supply prior to the construction of the well funded by charity: water donations. The well was built in-village, but also supplies water the local clinic. We’d love for you to chip in toward our goal of building two wells.
